K.O. 14.30

Bedlinog RFC: WWWWW

Ynysybwl RFC: WWWWW

For this week’s match preview, we head to to the village of Bedlinog, just north of Pontypridd.

We're approaching the juicy part of the season when many teams' will be on tenterhooks about whether they can win a league title, or simply survive the drop. Both of these teams will be very much fixated on the former and will believe title glory is theirs for the taking.

Bedlinog RFC have performed extremely well this season. With wins in every league fixture, bar one, which was their opening game of the season when they lost narrowly to Rhydyfelin RFC, they'll be heavily fancied to continue their run and cement their claim on the league.

Similarly, Ynysybwl are also experiencing an impressive run of form, having won ten in a row – interestingly their last defeat was in the reverse fixture where Bedlinog enjoyed a comprehensive victory. We reckon the home team will enter the fixture as slight favourites and may hold a psychological advantage, even though their positions in the Swalec National League may suggest otherwise.

Although Ynysybwl top the table, the home side have 5 games in hand... but are 20 points adrift. Thus, the result of this match will likely have a very big say in how the division pans out. Would you rather be the team with the points on the board or the team with enough games in hand to ascend to the summit of the league..?

This ia a real humdinger!

What a tough fixture to call! There’s certainly a lot riding on it so it's not one to miss. We highly suggest if you’re around Pontypridd this weekend that you head down to the Bedlinog ground and check out some fantastic rugby – after all it’s the first break in the 6 Nations, so let's make this weekend all about supporting rugby's grassroots!
