Location: Philiphaugh, Selkirk
It’s the penultimate round of the King of the 7s series this weekend and the hosts are our Club partner, Selkirk RFC!
This is a fantastic series that’s played throughout the Scottish Borders and features a host of top quality 7s action, as well as brilliant social tournaments. The 2016 series has not disappointed and has seen E4R Club Partners Jed Forest and Watsonians dominate the league, both with two tournament victories to their name.
Both teams are primed and in a great position with only two rounds left, which means the outcome of this weekend’s tournament at Selkirk will be pivotal. Last week’s tournament in Earlston saw Watsonians and Jed face each other in the final, with Jed coming out on top…that’s the way the table now sits, so it’ all to play for this weekend!
Potential Twist in the Tale?
At one point 2 weeks ago, it looked although Melrose (another E4R Club Partner) were going to mount a late title bid, as they produced an outstanding performance at the Kelso 7s. They annihilated the field beating Watsonians by over 45 points in the SF and Gala by 30 in the final…however they failed to make a real impact at last week’s event in Earlston so it appears to be a two horse race.
Due to the high-speed and action packed nature of 7s, it's a fantastic spectacle for everyone - even those who don't have much of an interest in rugby. It's bound to be a fantastic, social day of rugby and fun, so we recommend you head down if you've got a free Saturday.
This takes place in the Philliphaugh Suite and for £60 a ticket you can enjoy a fantastic carvery buffet and a guest speaker.

It should be a fantastic tournament and we wish all the teams, especially the E4R Club Partners, the best of luck!
