The 15s season may be on the horizon, and the 7s season a distant memory, however our Club Partner, Peebles RFC, are holding their annual 7s Tournament in August this year - And it's Ladies Day!
5th - 7th August will see Peebles RFC host a weekend of festivities, with the showcase event being the rugby 7s on Saturday 6th, which will also be their Ladies Day.
The event usually takes place at the end of April, as a climax to the 7s season, however the club have decided to change it to August in order for the tournament to enjoy warmer weather (and hopefully more sun), which should mean larger crowds, more fun and better rugby.
It should be a great way to draw attention to the club ahead of the new season and hopefully all those that attend will then take an interest in how Peebles RFC perform during this year’s campaign.
In theory, the tournament should experience a day of sunshine due to it being held in August (although this is Britain) and so the club are hoping the summer rays will encourage many of the town’s ladies to dress up and get involved! The onus behind the day is to spoil and say thank you to the women who look after all the youth players and put a lot of time into the club. They're also seeking to encourage new faces into the rugby club.
The tournament, although centred upon getting ladies down to the club for a great social day, also offers teams a chance to gage how their pre-season is going and build up a bit of match fitness. The agility and sharpness needed for the 7s game is bound to stand teams in good stead for the upcoming season.
Tickets for the tournament are excellently priced at £10 for adults with children under 12 free.
Make sure you get down to The Gytes, Saturday August 6th!
