Beccehamians back to winning ways as the beat Lewes

Beccehamians 32 Lewes 3

It was a bright sunny day at Sparrows Den and those who left the clubhouse after the lunch were entertained by two young teams intent on playing open rugby.
Very early on Beccs were awarded a penalty and without Alex the boot, Jordan Souter stepped up to kick the penalty 3-0.
For the next 15 minutes the exchanges were fairly even but eventually Beccs scored a try out wide on the left through right wing Sam Edwards but Jordan failed to kick the conversion, 8-3.
Lewes managed to mount some attacks and were eventually awarded a penalty for Beccs not releasing in the tackle to make the score 8-3.
Although Beccs dominated possession for the next 15 minutes we failed to score through good Lewes defence and errors on our part.
At the start of the second Beccs were on top again and eventually Jordan Souter scored a try which he did not convert 13-3.
Beccs continued to attack but were repelled by a good Lewes defence. When Beccs were awarded a penalty 6 metres from the line the Lewes hooker knocked the ball out of our players hand as he was about to take a penalty and it was an easy yellow card for the ref to give.
Within a few minutes Paul Broadhurst scored a try which Jordan converted to make it 20-3.
Before the hooker came back on Eddie Ashworth scored a try which Jordan converted to stretch the lead to 27-3.
Beccs were not finished and Jordan Souter scored a try out wide to make the final score 32-3.
Our Little and Large second row played very well considering Mary weighed nearly twice as much as Ross.
